In January 2024, AMI were appointed as main contractor for all Hotel spaces on the Britannia refit. On 15th March we loaded materials, tools and fixings onto the vessel in Barbados in readiness for the pre-refit team joining. On 18th March a team of 20 multi trades personnel flew to Antigua to embark the vessel to complete removals and 'get ahead' of critical timeline projects. Existing Crew mess & Limelight lounge completely removed during the trans-Atlantic crossing to Southampton and onward to the dry-dock in Rotterdam.
On the 5th April, AMI embarked over 150 personnel in Southampton for transit to the Damen Shipyard in Rotterdam, where over the next week more personnel would also embark brining the multi-trade refit team to over 250 personnel.
During the refit period, AMI carryied out works in 24 spaces throughout the vessel's interior and outside decks, including:
- The complete refurb of the Staff Mess, this being an AMI Desig and Build project, continuing in the line of many Crew, Staff and Officer's Mess Rooms, bars and recreation spaces throughout the Carnival UK fleet designed in-house by our Interior Architect, Guri Blindheim MNIL. LAong with supply and installation of USPH compliant deckheads to dry stores areas
- The complete refurb of the atrium Market Cafe, including bespoke joinery, new chilled and ambient units, upholstery and lighting
- Complete reinstatement works to Limelight Lounge from steel, working in conjunction with the dockyard. Remit included insulation works, bulhead and deckhead formation, electrical & lighting installation, wallcoverings, painting, decoration and carpet
- Uplifting and replacing over11,000M2 of carpets througout all guest alleyways and public rooms
- Uplifting and replacing over 1600 M2 of Astro Turf to outside decks
- French Polishing several thousand chairs, and French Polishing existing timber finishes throughout the vessel
- Hard surface repairs to all restaurant, dining, bar and public rooms ad areas including outside decks
- Sand, seal and polish of all timber hard flooring areas including Crystals Room dance floor
- Specialist deep cleaning and re-finishing to existing tiled areas in Guest Restrooms
- Installing new wall coverings, painting and decorating in many public areas including complete refub of Guest lifts
- The removal and installation of over 50 new Marble Waiter station tops
- Uolifting and instaling new Granite, Marble and ceramic tiles in the Spa Reception, Hydro Pool, Sauna, Buffet entracne lobbies, restaurant waiter stations and Swimming Pools. Installation of the new bespoke designed tile to Sunset Bar
- Replacement of automated window blinds to Horizon Restaurant and Guest Gymnasium
- Works within the Headline Theatre, including the instalation of acoustic fabric to high level service areas and LED stair nosings throughout
- The complete refurb of the Sports Arena including new perimeter hoarding, decoration and Basketball hoops and nets
- Upgraded external shower units to The Retreat
